Note:Sylvac cable has DB9-FEMALE connector, you must get DB9-MALE connector on BlueSnap dongle.
When using BlueSnap-AAA you MUST get the DTR conversion option on BlueSnap since Sylvac requires DTR asserted.

Setting up BlueSnapXP and BlueSnapUSB-M4 for use with Sylvac Digital RS-232 Serial Caliper

BlueSnapXP-DTR for use with Fowler Caliper - Settings (4800,E,7,2)

  1. Set BlueSnapXP jumper for DTE – pg. 3 on document here: http://www.serialio.com/download/Docs/BlueSnapXP-guide-400p.pdf
  2. Connect to JavaTerm (or other terminal program)
  3. Check the RTS option on JavaTerm (or other RTS control on other terminal progam)
  4. Send command Command Mode characters - $$$
  5. Issue the following BlueSnap commands:
    1. S~,3
    2. SU,4800
    3. SL,E
    4. S7,1
    5. R,1
    6. Change connection parameters on JavaTerm
    7. d (check Baudrt=4800, Parity=Even - 7BIT)
    8. o (check that Profile= MDM)

BlueSnapUSB-M4 (115200, N, 8, 1)

  1. $$$ (for command mode)
  2. i (to find address of BlueSnapXP)
  3. SR,<BlueSnapXP address>
  4. Remove BlueSnap USB from USB port
  5. Turn switch 3 ON (away from numbers is ON)
  6. Plug BlueSnap USB into USB port

The devices should now pair automatically. If they do not, you may need to configure your software to set the DTR line for the BlueSnapUSB-M4.

Note: The pairing process can work in reverse, i.e. the XP unit can connect to the USB unit, HOWEVER when using SerialMagic on Windows, the instructions above should be used.
