BlackBerry smart phone is used a Grid-In-Hand(tm) Mobile Grid spreadsheet and a barcode scanner.
Note: This solution is also avialable for Android, iOS (iPad, and iPhone, iPod Touch iOS 4 and later), Windows 7/Vista/XP, and more.
Requirements:
SerialMagic Professional Power Upgrade software for BlackBerry
Scanfob 2002 Bluetooth barcode scanner1
BlackBerry* e.g. Torch 9800, Bold 9000, Storm 2 9550, 9530, Storm 9500, 8900, 8800 (World Phone), 8820, 8830, 8300 (Curve), 8310, 8320, 8220 (Flip-Pearl), 8100 (Pearl), 8120, 8700, 8703, 8707
*Running BlackBerry OS version 4.2 or later
1Other scanners may also be supported e.g. Koamtac KDC200, Restock SS, LaserChamp II, etc.
The BlackBerry is loaded with SerialMagic Professional (click here to download SerialMagic Professional)
Once SerialMagic is setup with the proper SerialMagic Action Profile (SMAP) and paired with the wireless scanner, the user simply scans the desired HIBC codes and SerialMagic will pull the SN from the HIBC bar code and place it on the Grid-In-Hand(tm) Mobile Grid sheet, with the cursor in the cell next to it to allow the user to scan the LOT number (image below left). The user then scans the LOT barcode and SerialMagic decodes the LOT number from the HIBC barcode and puts it in the the Mobile Grid sheet on the same row as the SN, then puts the cursor on the next row of the sheet allowing the user to scan the next HIBC barcode (below right).

After the user scans all desired HIBC barcodes into the Mobile Grid sheet, the BlackBerry back button is pressed to send the data.
The list will be saved,
then the sending progress icon shown. After list send is successful, a green check icon shown.
It's that easy.

Note in the above example the HIBC bar codes have the attributes shown below.
SerialMagic uses an SerialMagic Action Profile (SMAP) to extract the SN and LOT numbers from the HIBC barcodes that contain them.
SerialMagic SMAPs enable powerful ways to provide solutions for your many scanning needs.
