SerialMagic How To: Use GridMagic Attach Plan to email to Excel spreadsheet with BlackBerryGridMagic Attach Plan allows Excel spreadsheets to be sent to and from a BlackBerry This document outlines how to send and receive spreadsheets via email, using GridMagic. GridMagic can be purchased here. A bundle with the LaserChamp Bluetooth barcode scanner scanner can be purchased here. A license key for GridMagic with Attach Plan is needed. Setting up the Attachment Service
Next, scroll to Attachment Service, and select it. Check the Connection mode, it should be set to Auto (GridMagic will automatically determine the correct setting). If you set the Connection mode to Manual, you must set the Connection type to TCP, BIS, or BES. If GridMagic detects a TCP connection (carrier service such as Cingular, T-Mobile, etc.), you will have to configure the TCP settings to those of your carrier. On the BlackBerry, Go to Options > Advanced Options > TCP Find your carrier’s TCP settings here.
Also, make sure “Integrate with email messages” is set to Yes. The other options listed here are personal preferences. For more information regarding GridMagic Options, see the GridMagic User Guide on the Simprit website. Sending a Spreadsheet via GridMagic
Here is the list of spreadsheets on your device. Scroll to the one you would like to attach, and hit the Space bar to select it (a checkbox will denote spreadsheets to be sent).
At this stage, if you receive any errors, it is most likely a Connection issue. Verify that the Connection mode / Connection type settings are correct, and that the TCP options are set (if necessary). Contact GridMagic Technical Support if problems persist. Opening a Spreadsheet Attachment via GridMagic
Below left is the selected email. Click the Wheel to bring up the menu, and select The attached file will be listed. Select the one you wish to open, and click the Wheel.
It may take a few moments to load the spreadsheet, depending on the size. Now you can view the spreadsheet, make any changes you wish, and re-attach it to a new email if you wish.
Using SerialMagic Pro, a LaserChamp Bluetooth barcode scanner, and GridMagic, you can inject scanned barcodes right into an Excel spreadsheet and email them directly from the BlackBerry. |
