With the introduction of the SL-6000 series, the location of the Zaurus serial I/O connector was moved, AND the form factor of the keypad cover was modified. The introduction of these two changes means that the Model T1 & T2 ZThinCable will work with the SL-6000 only when the keypad cover is closed. Model T2 is only manufactured made-to-order (over 100 unit quantities only). Model T1 is discontinued.

The ZThinCable Models T3* will work with the SL-6000 with the keypad cover closed, and with the keypad cover open. Note however that current models of the SL-6000 require ZThinCable be removed from the SL-6000 I/O connector during the opening-closing of the keypad cover1,2.

ZThinCable was originally built to provide a locking finger mechanism that secured the cable to the Zaurus SL-5500. All new Zaurus models following the SL-5500 do not support the locking finger mechanism. The Model T1* ZThinCable still works with all of the above listed Zaurus units, when the locking fingers are removed. The Model T2* ZThinCable is the same as the Model T1, but manufactured without the locking fingers.

1When using ZThinCable with the serial I/O connector of the SL-6000 jacket, there is no affect on the opening-closing of the keypad cover.

2The SL-6000 keypad cover can be modified (e.g. with a Dremel tool, or a Xacto knife) to allow ZThinCable to remain connected during the opening-closing of the keypad cover. This does not affect the functionality of the SL-6000, however Sharp should be consulted with regard to what affect this may have on the warranty.

*The ThinCable Model T1 has locking fingers. ThinCable Model T2 doesn't have locking fingers, and the Serialio.com logo is on only one side. ZThinCable Model T3 units doesn't have locking fingers, and the Serialio.com logo is on both sides.
