USB RS-232 Adaptor
USB - RS232 (Serial) Adaptor
This handy adpator works with virtually all software that uses an RS-232 serial port. This includes our SerialMagic, and ScanChamp® products. If you are a developer, this device works superbly with SerialPort. It can be used directly with the SerialPort API, or with Serialio.com implementation of javax.comm.SerialPort. Connect barcode scanners, RFID scanners, scales, caller ID units, sensors, GPS receivers, smart card readers, modems, printers ... virtually any RS-232 device to your computer using the USB port. Note: This USB serial adaptor has been tested with ZTerm on OS X. Other USB serial adaptors may not work with ZTerm on OS X - even when they work fine on OS 8/9. This diagram here provides an overview. Use the adapter directly from a USB port, or via a USB hub. The converter is powered by the USB port, so the hub must be powered. This adapter works with Windows XP, Win2K, WinMe, Win98SE, and with Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, and Linux (2.4 kernel and later).
