WiSnap(TM) WiFi RS-232 Setup using JavaTerm

This page demonstrates how the WiSnap can be setup using the JavaTerm application included with the SerialPort API.

Power on the WiSnap and connect the RS-232 port to an RS-232 serial port on the computer.
If you don't have an RS-232 serial port on the computer a USB to RS-232 serial adapter can be used.

Launch JavaTerm application and use the menu Connection > Settings option to select RS-232 mode, choose the COM port connected to the WiSnap RS-232 adapter, and set the port to 9600 bits per second as shown below.

Type $$$ to put the WiSnap in command mode, the WiSnap should reply with "CMD" and the WiSnap green LED should fast blink.

At this point enter the commands needed to setup the WiSnap as desired. Below is an example of "get com" command.

When the computer running JavaTerm and WiSnap are connected on the same network (Enterprise, or Ad Hoc),
JavaTerm can be used to setup the WiSnap using a WiFi connection.
Use the menu Connection > Settings option to select TCP/IP mode and enter the IP address and port of the WiSnap.
You can also use "Discover Devices" option and JavaTerm will search for available WiSnap devices on the network.

WiSnap on the WLAN has been discovered by JavaTerm, simply select
the desired WiSnap on the discovery list and use the "Select" button.
