iPhone Wireless Laser Barcode Scanner Data Capture Using WiSnap-BlueSnap-Bridge(TM)

WiSnap Setup app for iPhone and iPod Touch makes testing wireless Ad-Hoc data capture a snap.
This example shows two examples of connecting an iPhone via Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi to collect data from peripheral devices.
First a Windows 7 computer via WiSnap kit that sends data to the iPhone via Ad-Hoc WiFi connection.
The next example is connects a
Scanfob-2002 (aka OPN-2002) wireless Bluetooth laser barcode scanner to capture barcode scans to the iPhone via an Adhoc connection.
Power on the WiSnap(tm) RS-232 to WiFi Serial Network Access Port.
Go to Settings app on iPhone or iPod Touch and turn Airplane Mode ON.
Then tap Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi ON. You should see the WiSnap shown in the "Choose a Network..." area.


Then go back to Settings main view and turn Airplane Mode OFF.
Note it can take 20-30 seconds for the iPhone or iPod Touch to establish an Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi connection with the WiSnap Serial RS232 dongle for iPhone.


Exit Settings app and launch WiSnap Setup.
Tap "Test WiSnap Connection" and enter the Ad-Hoc WiSnap IP address. Default is 169.254.1.1.


Tap "WiSnap Test" on WiSnap Setup app to go to data test view.
WiSnap Setup should connect with the WiSnap and display the Terminal Lite(tm) view of WiSnap Setup App.
The app toolbar
label will show "Disconnect" when WiSnap app has the Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi connection established.
In example below-right the "Cmds" toolbar option is used, to send the command to put the WiSnap RS-232 serial module in command mode.



Below-left shows data sent by the JavaTerm application running on a Windows 7 computer.
JavaTerm app is available in the SerialPort Java Developer Package.
Other terminal applications can also be used to perform this test.
Below-right shows barcodes scanned into the iPhone using the Scanfob-2002 laser wireless Bluetooth barcode scanner.
The Bluetooth scanner is connected to the iPhone via WiSnap-BlueSnap-Bridge(tm).
