Scanfob 2002 Setup With Windows Vista (Bluetooth HID Keyboard Mode)Use OPN-2002 with Windows Vista via Bluetooth HID (scanner behaves like keyboard) The OPN-2002 is has built-in firmware programs allowing significant customization. This document outlines setup using the Microsoft Bluetooth stack. Open the Bluetooth dialog via the Control Panel Bluetooth option, or the Bluetooth icon in the System Tray.
Click "Add..." button, then check "My device is setup and ready to be found"
Before clicking "Next >" insure the Scanfob OPN-2002 has been setup in the correct mode as follows: 1) Set Scanfob OPN-2002 to Bluetooth HID mode 2) Set the Scanfob OPN-2002 in "Enable authentication" mode 3) Have the control barcodes for numbers (Q0, Q1, Q2, ..., Q9) printed out and handy. 4) Set the Scanfob OPN-2002 in "Manually connect" mode IMPORTANT NOTE With RFGS0223.s32 firmware build: Now click "Next >" on the above dialog, and Vista Bluetooth stack will search for Bluetooth devices. Vista Bluetooth stack will display the Bluetooth devices found as shown below. Select the OPN-2002 device and click "Next >". On the dialog below select Note: Due to the fact that the setup process for firmware build RFGS0223.s32 has default timeouts Then enter the value of your choice - in this example the Bluetooth passkey will be "0" Windows Vista will then check the Bluetooth passkey. When the screen below displays, Scan the control barcode for the digit "0" (Q0) from the page printed and prepared After scanning Q0, then scan the "End PIN-code label" (PINE) control barcode. Shortly after scanning the (PINE) control barcode above, the Scanfob should emit
Click "Finish" and the OPN-2002 device should be shown in the Windows Vista Bluetooth Devices dialog as shown below.
Now simply put the cursor where you want the scanned data to be typed, and scan a barcode. Usability Note: Simplicity of Bluetooth HID is greatly exaggerated.
