SerialMagic Professional for Windows supports a wide variety of barcode scanners and other devices.
The benefit of SerialMagic is that enables the user to perform powerful functions,
such functions not normally available to basic "wedge" programs, or keyboard scanners.
Special funtions include Data Pattern processing, focusing applications, manipulating/clipping data, simulating keystrokes, etc.
Using SerialMagic Pro, you can easily enable the Symbol LS2208 on Windows computers.
Just follow these simple steps:
1) Obtain a copy of the Symbol LS2208 Programming Guide, a copy can be downloaded HERE.
2) Follow setup guide for unpackaging of the scanner, etc.
3) Plug scanner into an available Serial RS232 port on the computer

) Scan the following barcodes to setup the scanner
(Barcodes must be printed, cannot scan from computer screen)
-Scan "Set All Defaults" on page 4-4
-Scan "Fujitsu RS-232" on page 6-8

) Launch SerialMagic Professional on the Windows machine.
6) When "Choose How Scanner Will Connect" screen appears, select "Manual Setup" at bottom.

7) Select the following settings on the "Manual Setup" window:
-Port: COM1 or COM2
-Connection Name: Nickname, in this example "Symbol LS2208"
-Device Type: Other
-Connection Type: Raw

8) Next, click on "Configure Port Settings" at top.
Select the following settings from the "COM1 (COM2) Properties" window.
-Bits per second: 9600
-Data bits: 8
-Parity: None
-Stop bits: 1
-Flow control: None
Click OK to save settings. Then click OK again to save the "Manual Setup" configuration.

9) Next, just click START on the SerialMagic main screen (Right - middle) and SerialMagic will minimize itself.
10) Launch your target application (Excel, Internet, Word, etc.) and begin scanning! You should see the data appear in your application!
