How to pair your Bluetooth Scanner with Mobile Grid for iOS

This support article demonstrates how to pair your Bluetooth scanner with Mobile Grid for iOS in HID mode, BLE mode, and MFi mode.

HID Keyboard Mode

Enable HID Support

Before pairing your scanner in HID mode, you first need to adjust some settings within Mobile Grid.

2. Scroll down until you see the section labeled “Scanners and Readers.”

3. Toggle the slider to the right of “Scanfob®  2006.” This will enable HID support for the Scanfob®  2006 and similar models.

4. When you see your scanner’s Bluetooth name, tap on it to pair with it.

Pair via Mobile Grid

Due to the nature of HID mode, you do not need to pair through the Mobile Grid application. Simply launch the app and scan straight into Mobile Grid!

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Mode

MFi (Made for iDevices) Mode

Pairing your scanner with Cloud-In-Hand® Mobile Grid for iOS in MFi mode is a two-part process.

Pair via iOS Bluetooth Settings

1. Put your scanner in MFi mode. For example, if you are using a Scanfob® brand barcode scanner, scan the “MFi” control code from your Quick Start Guide.

2. Make your scanner discoverable and connectable. For Scanfob® brand barcode scanners, scan the “Make Discoverable & Connectable” barcode or hold down the small function button.

3. Launch the Settings application on your iOS device and navigate to “Bluetooth Settings.”

4. When you see your scanner’s Bluetooth name, tap on it to pair with it.

Pair via Mobile Grid

1. Launch Cloud-In-Hand® Mobile Grid for iOS.

2. Tap on the Serial Device Manager (SDM) icon.

3. The SDM will automatically begin scanning for Bluetooth devices. When you see your scanner’s name under the section labeled “MFi Devices,” tap on it.

4. You have successfully paired with Cloud-In-Hand®  Mobile Grid for iOS!
